Graphite polystyrene (SEPS) board, the full name is graphite molded polystyrene foam board for insulation, commonly known as "black foam" or "blackboard", referred to as SEPS. It is a new type of polystyrene insulation board and a highly flame-retardant polystyrene insulation material developed by BASF of Germany. Its production process is to add 5%-50% by mass of expanded graphite and 2%-20% of phosphoric acid compounds as flame retardants to expandable polystyrene (EPS), and prepare expanded PS particles by suspension polymerization. Graphite is introduced into expandable polystyrene (EPS) to make it have better flame retardant properties while maintaining excellent thermal insulation properties. At present, the country is promoting the introduction of national standards for SEPS boards, which will be extremely beneficial to the market promotion of highly flame-retardant SEPS insulation boards.
Graphite polystyrene board solves the key flame retardant problem, and the thermal insulation performance is greatly improved: the problem that ordinary polystyrene board has always been criticized is poor fire resistance and poor thermal insulation performance. But because of its low price, it has always been favored by the market. Graphite polystyrene board solves the problems of fire resistance and poor thermal insulation performance of ordinary polystyrene board, but the price is basically the same as that of ordinary polystyrene board. Therefore, the future market prospects are bright.
The main raw material of graphite polystyrene board is also styrene. Graphite polystyrene board is expected to compete and replace polyurethane insulation board in the mid-to-high-end market, and it can be considered that it is expected to bring incremental demand for styrene.

Graphite polystyrene board SEPS (50mm)

The compressive strength is lower than that of XPS board, and compressive strength is not the main evaluation index of thermal insulation materials.
